Balkan Roadtrip: Day 1

We left home bright and early on Monday, July 10th: 6:35 am to be exact. We were all so excited (okay, so maybe it was mostly me) to be on the road. We got the whole way to Çanakkale, in northwestern Turkey, around 11:00 and shortly after that we got on a ferry to cross the Dardanelles strait - which is the narrow strait that connects the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara and separates Asian Turkey from European Turkey.

Europe here we come!

The kids were pretty excited about the ferry ride (okay, so maybe it was mostly me).

Pretty windy.

 We reached our campsite on the Gallipoli Peninsula around 12:30 and ate some lunch - hummus, bread, carrots and cucumbers - and set up camp so we could go SWIMMING!

Brooks was happy that he could walk out really far from the shore and the water was still shallow.

Wiped out! I was trying to get a picture of all 5 kids sleeping in the top part of the tent, but I couldn't get Yohanis in the picture, who was right by Colson in the corner.
