House Tour - basement and guest bedroom

Our basement is pretty big. Big enough to have a kitchenette, another sitting area, and a guest bedroom. The basement was also a HUGE job that took the most amount of time. Houses in Turkey are not insulated, so Joel put up some tongue and groove pine board on the walls and insulated behind it. It has kept our basement so much warmer over the winter.

After. We would love to change the tile some day, it is very orangey :)

And this is not a very flattering picture of me, but it is proof that I put some hard work and sweat into this house too :) I stained every single one of the boards that went into the basement!!

Guest bedroom before

Guest bedroom after! We had some leftover pine boards that we made a chair rail with and painted white. It makes that room seem a lot brighter.

There is also this storage room that for now holds all of Joel's tools. Joel is working on building a shed in our backyard, so that this room can become a guest bathroom.

House Tour - master bedroom and bathroom

There was another balcony off of the master bedroom that we enclosed, then knocked down the interior wall to make the room bigger.

After. Joel built our bed and he built the window seat.

And there was enough space in the corner to fit a small desk for me, which Joel also made :)

And after!! We put some new tile that looks like hardwood on top of the existing tile and I ordered some fun decals from an etsy shop to cover up the border wall tile. And Joel turned a kitchen cart from IKEA into a vanity and I just love it. We don't have a bathtub in here yet , but Joel is thinking about making one, some day :)

House Tour - Vienna, Isaiah and Brooks' room

Brooks, Isaiah and Vienna's room was quite a big transformation. There was a balcony off of their bedroom that we decided to enclose. Then we knocked down the interior wall to make the room bigger, since we were trying to cram 3 kiddos in there.

During - the balcony is enclosed, now it's time to knock down some walls!!

Finally got it all cleared out. Wow, what a huge job that was! Now time for some paint and flooring.

AFTER!

Vienna's little nook. She really has the best spot in the whole house - what an amazing view! And she has two curtains to close off her space when she wants a bit of privacy from her little brothers.

I love the vaulted ceiling.

The little boys side. All their blank walls are driving me a bit crazy. I hate empty walls :) But we will get there.

Joel made the boys' beds. It was a fun project that he did together with the boys a couple summers ago.

Joel also made the ladder bookshelf. I feel like this is a continuing theme throughout these posts: Joel made (fill in the blank). Haha! I'm certainly thankful for a handy husband and that the boys are learning all these things from their dad and enjoying doing projects together with him.

This chest of drawers, the wardrobe and nightstand were given to us by a neighbor. We just painted them gray and added new handles.
